Aisha clutched her resume tightly as she entered the towering glass building of Malhotra Enterprises. Her palms were sweaty, her heart racing. It wasn’t every day that she got an interview at one of the most powerful companies in the city.
She took a deep breath before knocking on the office door.
“Come in.” The deep, commanding voice made her freeze for a moment.
Behind the mahogany desk sat Arhan Malhotra. Sharp suit. Cold eyes. A man who looked like he owned the world—and maybe he did.
Their gazes met. For a second, Aisha forgot how to breathe.
Arhan leaned back in his chair, studying her carefully. His expression gave nothing away, but his heart… it betrayed him. He remembered her. The girl who had unknowingly stolen his attention long ago.
But he wouldn’t say it. He never did.
“You’re here for the PA position?” His tone was clipped, businesslike.
“Yes, sir,” she managed, her voice steady despite the storm inside her.
Arhan tapped his pen once, twice, before saying, “You’re hired.”
Her eyes widened. “Just like that? Don’t you want to see my qualifications?”
His lips curved in the faintest hint of a smile. Because I don’t need them. I just need you close.
But aloud, he only said, “I don’t waste time. You start tomorrow.”
And as she left the room, his eyes followed her, a secret warmth hidden behind his cold exterior.
Because for Arhan Malhotra, having her near was enough—for now.
